Taqsiqtuut Indigenous Research-Creation Lab is the central hub for the Canada Excellence Research chair in decolonial and transformational Indigenous Art Practices

Dr. Heather Igloliorte (Inuk-Newfoundlander, Nunatsiavut Beneficiary, she/her), the CERC in Decolonial and Transformational Indigenous Art Practices, directs the Taqsiqtuut Indigenous Research-Creation lab at the University of Victoria, where she is a Professor in the Visual Arts Department. Taqsiqtuut hosts artistic and scholarly residencies, runs workshops and research-related events, centres Indigenous-led artistic research-creation processes and provides space and resources that support the flourishing of Indigenous art, knowledge, theory, methodologies and practices. The lab is a inclusive space that foregrounds Indigenous and other BIPOC student and community participation, prioritizes Two-Spirit, Indigiqueer, and LGBTQQIA+ youth and leadership, and emphasizes skill-building, creativity, experimentation and research.
